GAME NOTES
 
INDIANAPOLIS – The Pioneer Football League home opener will double as homecoming weekend this year with Butler hosting Morehead State. The division rivals will matchup at the Sellick Bowl for a 1 PM kick-off.
 
Bulldog Bits
- Dan DelGrosso recorded the first sack of his career against Princeton.
- Luke Sennett leads the team and ranks second in the PFL with 28 tackles this season. He is now just 13 tackles shy of 100 during his BU career.
- Anthony Scaccia needs just 77 rushing yards to reach 1,000 in his BU career. His next touchdown will also be the 10th of his career.
- Brad Sznajder ranks fifth in the PFL in rushing yards per game (86.0).
- Pace Temple leads the PFL in receptions per game (8.0).
- Butler is the only PFL team to attempt and recover an onside kick this year.
- Butler is the least penalized team in the PFL. Just nine flags for 100 yards over three games.
- Five PFL teams including both Butler and Morehead State are coming off a Week 4 bye.
- Butler is 23-for-47 on third down this year (48%). They went 7-for-14 on third down vs. Princeton.
 
SCOUTING THE EAGLES: Morehead State is 1-2 at the start of the season with losses to Eastern Kentucky and No. 23 Austin Peay mixed in with a win at home vs. Mount St. Joseph (Ohio). Head Coach Rob Tenyer has a talented roster this year highlighted by WR Jarin Higginbotham. The 6-0, 200 pound wideout ranked third on the MSU single-season Top-10 list a year ago with 974 yards and 10 touchdowns. Butler will also keep an eye on QB Lawson Page who leads the team in both passing and rushing yards. Page threw for 2,682 yards a year ago with 21 touchdowns. In 2016 he rushed for seven touchdowns primarily in the "wildcat" formation.
 
Page passed for 135 yards a year ago against Butler with 38 of those yards going to Higginbotham on two catches.
 
PFL OPENER: Butler is 5-7 in conference openers under the direction of Head Coach Jeff Voris.
 
Butler kicked off the PFL season at Morehead State in 2009. They recorded a 28-21 overtime win.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES: Morehead State leads Butler in the all-time series 14-7. The Eagles won 10 of the first 11 meetings from 1963-2007. From 2008 on, Butler leads 6-4.
 
Butler defeated Morehead State last year 44-6. The win snapped a two-game losing streak against the Eagles.
 
FAMILIAR FOE: RB Anthony Scaccia scored the first two touchdowns of the game for Butler against Morehead State the last time these two programs shared the field. Scaccia's first score came from two-yards out. His second was a 19-yard TD run.
 
Butler rushed for 273 yards against Morehead State last year. All six touchdowns came on the ground.
 
COLVIN CONTRIBUTES TO THE WIN: LB Xavier Colvin recorded two sacks vs. Morehead State last year. He ended the game with five total tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
 
Colvin made four tackles last week vs. Princeton moving his season total to 10.
 
ALL-TIME GREAT: Pace Temple heads into the weekend with 168 career receptions to total 2,549 yards. He ranks second all-time at Butler in career receiving yards and is up to third all-time in receptions. Temple needs 446 yards to pass Zach Watkins (08-11) for the top spot in receiving yards and 25 catches to move into second place in receptions.
 
Pace Temple scored Butler's lone TD pass against Princeton from 10-yards out.
 
MARTY MAKES HIS MARK: QB Will Marty will place his name in the Butler record book this weekend. The redshirt-senior currently has 3,503 passing yards over his four-year career. He is now just 25 yards away from 10th all-time and 228 yards away from ninth.
 
Marty threw for 198 yards and a score against Princeton last week. He ranks third in the PFL in passing yards per game (210.7)
 
PACE PUTS ON A SHOW: Pace Temple caught 14 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown last week at #24 Youngstown State. He led all FCS receivers with 14 catches, and therefore was named Stats FCS National Offensive Player of the Week and PFL Player of the Week. He became the first Bulldog to earn the PFL honor since 2015 when the award went to Matt Shiltz. 14 catches and 167 yards were both career-high marks for Temple. He now has nine 100-yard receiving games in his BU career.
 
BEVELHIMER NAMED TO MITCHELL AWARD WATCH LIST: Drew Bevelhimer was named to the 2018 Fred Mitchell Award Watch List just prior to the season starting. He was one of 34 placekickers from the FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA ranks to earn a spot on the award's preseason list which recognizes placekickers for their excellence on the field and their continued community service.
 
BEVELHIMER NAMED TO 2018 AFCA GOOD WORKS TEAM: Drew Bevelhimer was included in a select group of 22 college football players that are recognized with the Good Works Team. The prestigious award, which has played a prominent role in collegiate sports for more than 25 years, celebrates student-athletes and the honorary head coach for their extraordinary commitment to making a lasting impact off the field.
 
BEVELHIMER HITS GAME-WINNER AT YSU: Drew Bevelhimer connected on 44-yard field goal with four seconds left to give Butler a 23-21 victory at No. 24 Youngstown State. He was named PFL Special Teams Player of the Week after the first game of the season.
 
UPSET SPECIAL: Butler's Week 1 win at Youngstown State was the first win by a PFL member against a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference since 2007 when Drake defeated Illinois State.
 
COACH TO CURE MD: Jeff Voris will wear a patch on his left arm Saturday to raise awareness for muscular dystrophy. Text the word CURE to 50555 to donate $10.
