Butler women's tennis head coach Matt Moore has announced two new additions to the 2019-20 squad today, Feb. 25. These talented players come from all over the United States and will join the team in the fall of 2019.

"We are beyond excited to welcome Logan White and Roxanne MacKenzie to our 2019 roster and growing tennis family," said Moore. "We searched all across the United States for players committed to The Butler Way. These players will help us build upon our current tennis success, excel in the classroom, and give back to the local community.

"These players also come from new recruitment markets for Butler tennis. We know expanding our recruitment network is crucial to our long-term success."

This is Moore's first recruiting class and he is excited to see what these two recruits will bring to Indianapolis and the Butler Bubble.

"Each of these recruits embodies the values we search for in our student-athletes. They will add depth to our program, demonstrate strong leadership potential, and can help us achieve our goals of propelling Butler tennis into BIG EAST contention."

 Logan White — Oconomowoc, Wis. / Divine Savior Holy Angels High School

White is ranked No. 1 in Wisconsin and No. 28 in the Great Lakes region according to tennis recruiting. As a four-year varsity player at Divine Savior Holy Angels, White competed in the WIAA Division I high school tournament where she placed second as a senior and fifth as a sophomore and junior. As captain of the team, she led her team to a second-place finish at the state tournament. 

Logan on choosing Butler: "Everyone at Butler was so welcoming when I came on a visit. I am so excited to be part of a team with a great dynamic and supportive coach. Butler also provides strong academics which will challenge me and help prepare me for my future."

Coach Moore on White: "Logan brings tremendous potential to our program. She is a powerful player, has a strong mental game, and is constantly pursuing growth both on and off the court. We are also excited to expand our recruitment to the Great Lakes Region."

Roxanne MacKenzie – Newport Coast, Calif. / Corona Del Mar High School

MacKenzie ranked in the top 50 of the Southwest Region in juniors, with a career-high of No. 27 in Southern California. MacKenzie has won the following junior tournaments: Maureen Connolly Memorial Junior Open, Santa Monica Junior Open, Laguna Niguel Open, and Robert Bohr Memorial Open.  She also won two rounds at the National Hard Court Championships and National Clay Court Championships. As a four-year varsity standout at Corona Del Mar High School, Mackenzie competed at the Division I California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) championships, capturing the CIF and Regional Team Championships in 2017.  

MacKenzie on choosing Butler: "I really liked the team connection among the players and with Coach Moore. The campus is beautiful! I see Butler as an opportunity to advance in tennis on an individual and team level, while pursuing an academic track that will eventually lead to Veterinary school.  My family has roots in the Midwest, so I am thrilled to be traveling to Indianapolis to play for Coach Moore and the Butler Bulldogs!"
 
Coach Moore on MacKenzie: "Roxy will bring excellent experience to our program. Playing in one of the most competitive markets in the United States, she has tremendous match experience and the ability to compete against several of the strongest juniors in our country. We are excited to welcome a west coast player to the Indy. We hope this is the first of many opportunities to work with players throughout California."
