The Bulldogs' depth proved to be the distance as Butler won the Savannah State Spring Fling Thursday in Georgia.
Butler placed three golfers among the Top 10 as senior
Lauren Tibbets led the way with a score of three-over 75. Teammate
Claire Edwards was one shot back at 76 (+4).
Katelyn Le finished tied for ninth (81; +9).
Megan Skoog and
Ally Ross tied for 12
th at 10-over 82.
The Bulldogs took a one-stroke victory over Youngstown State, shooting 314 (+26). Western Illinois (330), Savannah State (331) and the College of Wooster (349) rounded out the field.
Youngstown State's Victoria Grans and Puthita Khuanrudee took the top two spots on the leaderboard at 72 (E) and 74 (+2), respectively. Khuanrudee played as an individual.
Betsy Werner and
Nicole Jordan, playing as individuals, shot 94 and 98, respectively.
Thursday's competition was played at the Crosswinds Golf Club in Savannah, Ga.
The Bulldogs finish off their three-tournament Spring Break trip with the Bobby Nichols Invitational hosted by Tennessee Tech. The 54-event begins Sunday and runs through Tuesday in Sevierville, Tenn.
