INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler Bulldogs defeated the Western Michigan Broncos on Sunday afternoon by the final scored of 7-4. Butler used a five-run seventh inning to take the lead and post their 11th victory of the 2019 season.
Kollyn All swung a hot bat for Butler in the win. The BU designated hitter went 3-for-4 from the plate with a team-high two RBI.
Greg Gilbert,
Brody McGrath and
Duncan Hewitt were also credited with RBI in the win.
Connor Schultz got the start and tossed the first five innings of the game for BU. He struck out four and only walked two. Butler handed the ball off to
Jack Myers out of the bullpen. He threw three full innings, striking out three batters. The final 'Dawg to see the mound was closer
Jack Pilcher. He allowed one run while knocking off some rust, but would get BU to the finish line.
Butler would cut into a 2-0 deficit in the bottom of the fifth inning after an RBI single from Gilbert that scored
James Gargano.
The difference in the outcome came in the seventh inning as Butler knocked in five runs off five hits to take the lead. Margroff, Gilbert, Freed, McGrath and All all singled to put BU in the driver's seat.
Butler will return to action with a game Tuesday at Eastern Illinois. First pitch is set for 3 PM.
