HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Butler baseball team recorded another 9-2 victory on Tuesday afternoon at Northern Kentucky.
Joe Graziano earned his first win on the mound for the Bulldogs. The team is now 14-9 overall.
Graziano got run support early with Butler scoring one run in each of the first four innings.
Robbie McCargar opened up the game with an RBI single to center that scored
James Gargano. In the second inning, Gargano would ground out to third to earn an RBI with
Nathan Dill crossing home plate.
Dill would help generate a run in the third inning with an RBI groundout to third base that scored
Kollyn All. The Bulldogs would go up 4-1 in the fourth with Gargano scoring on a wild pitch. NKU pitching woes continued in the sixth inning with Butler scoring on a bases loaded walk and a wild pitch.
The seventh, eighth and ninth runs would come around in the ninth inning with an RBI single from
Jacob Margroff and a two-RBI double from
Harrison Freed.
Freed, All and Dill all had an extra base hit in the contest. BU had nine total led by catcher
Zach Parker with two.
On the mound, Graziano would strike out five batters over five innings to earn his first win of the 2019 campaign. Single innings would go to
Quentin Miller,
Greg Gilbert,
Ryan Schmit and
Austin Waeghe down the stretch.
Butler will return to action tomorrow at 4 PM when they host Anderson. LHP
Kevin Napoleon will get the start.
