The Bulldogs tied for the BIG EAST lead by having four teams recognized with Team Academic Excellence Awards for the 2018-19 season.

Butler and St. John's each had four certificates.

On Wednesday, August 7, the BIG EAST Conference announced the 22 teams that have been recognized for having the highest collective grade-point averages in each conference sport.

Butler's men's and women's teams in both indoor and outdoor track and field were recognized for their efforts in the classroom. Butler's men posted a GPA of 3.4 in both indoor and outdoor track. On the women's side, the Bulldogs posted a 3.62 GPA.

The winners were chosen based on the 2018-19 grade-point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution's roster as of the last contest of the championship segment in each conference-sponsored sport.

Creighton and Seton Hall had three teams honored. DePaul and Villanova each had a pair of teams earn certificates, while Georgetown and Marquette, and affiliate schools Temple and Denver rounded out the award with one nod apiece.
