The Bulldogs take to the road for the first time in 2019, traveling to West Virginia for a Friday night match against Marshall. A live video stream will be available.
Butler is 2-0 on the young season. It's the first time that the Bulldogs have won their first two matches of the season since 2015. Butler is one of five BIG EAST programs with a 2-0 mark entering weekend play.
Marshall enters Friday's match with a 1-0-1 record, having defeated Purdue Fort Wayne, 3-0, and coming away with a 1-1 (2OT) draw against Northern Kentucky. Both of the Thundering Herd's matches have been on the road.
The Bulldogs have allowed only one goal in the opening 180 minutes of the season. Sophomore
Gabriel Gjergji has made seven saves and posted the second shutout of his career with a 2-0 decision over Evansville Monday night.
Senior
Brandon Guhl has scored goals in each of the Bulldogs' wins. He now has 22 goals in 41 career matches as a Bulldog (Guhl played his freshman season at SMU). Sophomore
Logan Lee and freshman
Wilmer Cabrera, Jr., have the other goals for the Bulldogs.
Jack Haywood has two assists so far this season. Cabrera, Jr., has a team-best nine shots, which is also tied for the BIG EAST lead.
Cabrera, Jr., is one of six Bulldogs to see their first action in a Butler jersey this season.
Hemi Nasser and
Perrin Barnes are true freshmen like Cabrera, Jr.
Rhys Myers is a junior college transfer who has played all 180 minutes at center back.
Jack Streberger and
Brendan Hicks redshirted in 2018 before finding the pitch this season.
The minutes from the youth have been needed as senior captains
Jared Timmer and
Alex Lehtinen have combined for a total of 14 minutes this season while nursing injuries. Lehtinen has all 14 of those minutes, and he posted an assist in his brief stint against Evansville Monday night.

Brandon Guhl scored the second of his two goals in the 100
th minute, taking a centering pass fromÂ
Marco Charalambous and depositing it in the net for the game-winner.
Butler looked to have the match in hand afterÂ

Butler scored four goals in a match for the first time in more than two years, dating back to a 4-2 win over No. 5 UC-Santa Barbara Sept. 9, 2016.
THE SERIES: Butler owns a 2-0 advantage in matches played between the two programs. That 3-2 win came in 2008. The match was played on a neutral field as part of a tournament hosted by the University of Dayton.
UP NEXT: The Bulldogs return to Indianapolis for a Thursday night (Sept. 12) match-up against Wisconsin. The 7:30 p.m. contest is the back half of a doubleheader that will also see Butler's women play Illinois beforehand.
