The Bulldogs climbed to ninth on the leaderboard to close Don Benbow Invitational play Tuesday afternoon in Jacksonville, Fla. The team entered the day tied for tenth in the field.
Butler is hosting the event, named in honor of long-time Butler administrator and Hall of Famer Don Benbow, to begin its annual Spring Break trip.
The Bulldogs shot 319 Tuesday on the par-71 Jacksonville Beach Golf Club course, a 12-shot improvement from Monday's round.
St. John's won the team title at 605. The Red Storm had the team round of the day with a Tuesday 296. The topped first-round leader Quinnipiac by seven shots.

Megan Skoog was the top-performing Bulldog for the event after shooting 77 (+6) Tuesday on the 6,071-yard course. That followed her round of 81 Monday. Skoog finished tied for 21st.
Claire Edwards finished in a tie for 37
th at 162 after her Tuesday round of 77.
Ally Ross (163; tied for 39
th),
Emma Kelly (168; tied for 53
rd), and
Katelyn Le (172; tied for 63
rd) rounded out Butler's scoring five.
Nicole Jordan, playing as an individual, shot 175 for the event and tied for 72
nd.
Youngstown State's Puthita Khuanrudee won the invitational, using a one-under 70 Tuesday to finish at 146 (+4). She beat Jessie Kweon of St. John's by one shot. Â
