Butler will take a foreign tour August 2-12 to Italy and Greece.

The Bulldogs will play a total of four games during the tour as Butler prepares for the upcoming 2022-23 season under head coach Thad Matta.

Butler will play games Thursday, Aug. 4 and Friday, Aug. 5 in Rome against a team of professional players from that area. The team will also play contests Tuesday, Aug. 9 and Thursday, Aug. 11 in Athens against a team of professional players.

In addition to time in Rome and Athens, Butler will also spend several days in Sorrento.

The team's itinerary will include visits to The Colosseum, Vatican City, Pompeii, the Parthenon and Acropolis, and Panathenaic Stadium, among other sites.

Butler last took a foreign tour during the summer of 2017, playing four games in Spain.

Matta has returned to his alma mater to lead the Bulldogs for a second time. In his 17 years as a college head coach, which includes stints at Butler, Ohio State and Xavier, Matta possesses an incredible record of 439-154 (.740). Matta's teams won 20 or more games in 16 of those 17 seasons, advancing to the NCAA Tournament 13 times.

The Bulldogs return leading scorer Chuck Harris and significant contributors Jayden Taylor and Simas Lukosius from last season's roster. Matta has supplemented that young, talented group of Bulldogs this offseason with the addition of standout transfers Manny Bates (North Carolina State), Eric Hunter Jr. (Purdue), Jalen Thomas (Georgia State), and Ali Ali (Akron).

Season tickets are on sale now to cheer on the Butler men's basketball team at Hinkle Fieldhouse during the 2022-2023 campaign. The Bulldogs' home schedule features 18 contests, including all 10 BIG EAST opponents.
