Butler returns a couple of veterans to the infield in 2026, namely senior Olivia (Moxley) Robards and junior
Makena Alexander. Robards started all 48 games last season for the Bulldogs, primarily at the short stop and third base positions. She finished third on the team with a .339 batting average and tied for second with 42 hits. Her 22 RBI and seven doubles ranked fifth on the team. Alexander cracked nine home runs last season, landing her in a tie for eighth on Butler's All-Time Single Season list. She also started all 48 games, finishing second on the team with a .538 slugging percentage, 31 RBI, and 9 doubles.
Â
Additional returnees with experience in the infield are sophomores
Alona Boydston and
Paige Lillie.
Â
Incoming freshmen who will be expected to contribute are
Rachel Hunt,
Kayla Preiss, and
Kendall Graves.
Â
"Losing three staples from our infield to graduation would scare a lot of coaches," stated Head Coach Scott Hall. "I am fully confident in the players who are filling their shoes. Olivia will be the leader of this group. Her experience and confidence will help this group of young infielders develop quickly."
