Ready... Aim... Fire!
Paige Monaghan and
Serina Kashimoto are responsible for half of Butler's shots on the year. Monaghan has taken a team-high 71 shots, 15 more than Kashimoto. The duo ranks one and three, respectively, in the BIG EAST in shots per game.
Kashimoto Making History
Serina Kashimoto leads the team in points (25) goals (9) and assists (7). The 2015 Second Team All-American is currently ranked eighth all-time at BU with 18 career assists. She is just two points shy of 10th place in points with 54. Single-season records are also in sight for Kashimoto. The senior needs two goals, one assist, or three points to join the top ten list in the BU record book.
Dominant Defense
Butler has recorded 10 shutouts during the 2016 season, just one shy of tying the all-time school record of 11 set by the 2012 squad. The Bulldogs are also currently tied with the 2012 team for the fewest goals allowed in a season (15).
Hannah Luedtke, the BU keeper, has started in all 19 games and holds a 0.85 goals-against average. Luedtke has accounted for 69 saves as has been credited with seven of BU's 10 total shutouts.
Been Here Before
The Bulldogs are a relatively young team, but that doesn't mean this group lacks experience.
Paige Monaghan,
McKenzie Muchow,
Serina Kashimoto,
Shannon McDevitt,
Gabrielle Lemkuil,
Madison Toth and
Jamison Midgley all started for BU one year ago in the quarterfinal tournament matchup when Butler hosted Marquette.
2015 BIG EAST All-Tournament Team
Serina Kashimoto and
Shannon McDevitt were each named to the 2015 BIG EAST All-Tournament Team. Kashimoto came up with three points by scoring a goal and adding an assist. McDevitt also scored a goal last year during tournament action while helping the BU defense post two shutout victories.
Coaching Profile
Tari St. John and
Rob Alman became co-head coaches at Butler before the start of the 2012 season. The duo has now posted a double-digit win total in four of their five seasons at the helm of the women's soccer program. St. John and Alman have also guided BU to the conference tournament in four of their five seasons, highlighted by the trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2015. Butler is 59-33-11 overall since the 2012 season.
