The Bulldogs host SIUE Tuesday night in a non-conference game in Indianapolis. The 7 p.m. kick at the Sellick Bowl will be streamed live on the Butler Bulldogs Facebook page.
Butler enters the match at 2-7-2 overall. SIUE is 8-1-2 on the year and are receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches national poll.
THE SERIES: Butler is 1-2-2 in the all-time series with SIUE. All five of the match-ups have come since the 2014. The teams have met in each of the last four regular seasons in addition to a 2016 NCAA Tournament contest. Butler's win came at home during the 2016 season (by a score of 2-2). Later that year, the teams played to a 0-0 draw after 110 minutes in the NCAA Tournament before SIUE advanced on penalty kicks, 5-4. That match was played in Indianapolis.
ONE YEAR AGO: The Cougars got a goal in the 17
th minute from Mohamed Awad and a second goal in the 61
st minute from Devyn Jambga in taking a 2-0 decision in Edwardsville Oct. 10, 2017. SIUE had a 10-7 shot advantage while Butler took the only four corner kicks of the contest. Both teams fought through rain early and strong winds that continued throughout the match. Kyle Dal Santo had the shutout for SIUE, making two saves.
LAST TIME OUT: Visiting Georgetown came away with a 2-0 result over Butler Friday night at the Sellick Bowl in Indianapolis. Goals in the 18
thand 53
rd minute would prove to be the difference in the contest. The Bulldogs controlled the opening 15 minutes of the match before a set piece set up the first score for Georgetown. Kyle Zajec served a free kick into the box and Dylan Nealis headed it in for his first goal of the season and a 1-0 Hoya lead. Georgetown held a narrow edge in shots at 14-12.
HONOR ROLL: Captain
Jared Timmer earned a spot on the BIG EAST's five-member weekly honor roll after scoring both goals in a 2-2 tie last week at Evansville. Both of Timmer's goals came as the Bulldogs were playing a man down. Timmer also led the Bulldogs with four shots against Georgetown on Friday night. The two goals at Evansville were his first scores of 2018.
GOING THE DISTANCE: Senior captain
