WASHINGTON, D.C. – Butler scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to post a 3-2 win at Georgetown on Thursday night. The Bulldogs are now 26-24 on the season and stay alive for the postseason tournament.
Butler faced a 2-0 deficit heading into the ninth inning, but a single from
Kollyn All would score
James Gargano to make the game 2-1.
BU would pull even at 2-2 after an error from Georgetown.
Zach Jarosz would reach and allow
Maison Stites to score a huge run. A sac fly from
Kyle Smith would allow the game-winning run to come home as
Zach Parker tagged up to score.
Harrison Freed was in the box score with a 3-for-5 game. Jarosz, Smith and All were all credited with RBI.
The win on the mound went to
Joe Graziano (4-4) while the save was picked up my
Jack Myers (3).
Ryan Pepiot got the start and tossed the first 6.2 innings. He struck out 13 batters to set the new single-season record at Butler. Pepiot handed the ball off to
Greg Gilbert who got a single out before Graziano touched the rubber.
Jack Myers was awesome in the ninth striking out two of the four batters he faced.
BU and Georgetown will come together again tomorrow to play a game at 6 PM.
