Bryce Golden and
Jair Bolden led the Bulldogs with 15 points apiece as Butler posted a 68-57 win over Saginaw Valley State Tuesday at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Butler improves to 5-3 on the season with the win.
"It was good to get back out there and compete," said LaVall Jordan after Butler had not played in six days following the Maui Invitational in Las Vegas. "I thought we had good energy tonight. There has been good leadership the past few practices with guys showing what it should look like."
The Bulldogs shot 47 percent from the field, and hit nine of 23 attempts from three-point range.
Butler pushed its lead to 56-40 with 7:40 remaining in the game before SVSU came back with 11 straight. A 7-0 spurt by the Bulldogs followed, which gave the Bulldogs a final cushion.
Ten of Golden's 15 points – and all eight of his game-high rebounds – came in the second half. Bolden hit three three-pointers in the first half to push Butler out to an early lead.
Jayden Taylor added 11, while
Aaron Thompson had eight points and six assists.
Christian David came off the bench for a season-high 16 minutes, posting five points and seven rebounds.
Butler's 10 turnovers tied a season-low.
Delano Smith had 12 points to lead the Cardinals. Butler's defense limited SVSU to 41-percent shooting.
The Bulldogs have a week off before traveling to Norman for a game against Oklahoma as part of the BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle.
