High-Powered Offense Pushes Butler Past Davidson 48-38

Butler traveled to Davidson on Saturday afternoon and left with a 48-38 victory. The Bulldogs recorded 460 yards of total offense with 283 coming on the ground and 177 more through the air. The win is Butler's first against Davidson since 2016. The result also goes down as Davidson's first home loss of the 2024 campaign.

Reagan Andrew had over 200 yards of total offense against the Wildcats. He led the Butler rushing attack with 98 yards and two scores while adding 112 passing yards. Butler had five total rushing touchdowns in the win with Billy Dozier, Griffin Caldwell and Nick Howard adding rushing touchdowns. Butler's defense was equally as good limiting Davidson to just 187 yards, 172 yards shy of their season average.

Butler erupted with a 63-yard touchdown on their first play of the contest. Billy Dozier busted through the right side of the line to give BU a lead they would never give up. The defense got involved early in this one with Devaon Holman picking off a pass and going all the way back for six.

Andrew's first rushing TD came in the second quarter and made the game 21-7. His second was a 41-yard scamper to seal the win in the fourth.

Additional BU scoring came from place kicker Ryan Short. He nailed two field goals during the game, connecting from 26 and 31 yards.

Butler's aerial attack was led by Luke Wooten and Ethan Loss. Wooten had four receptions for 100 yards giving him the first 100-yard performance of the year for Butler. Loss caught a 48-yard pass to end the day with 66 yards.

Holman's pick-six was the first of two BU interceptions on the day. Jeremiah Jackson came up with a turnover in the third quarter to end a Davidson drive. Up front, Butler had four sacks, spearheaded by Jack Burch, Danny Orgler and Adam Sturtz. Burch was also credited with a forced fumble that was recovered by Will Mason. Mason and Sturtz tied the team lead in tackles with 10 each.

Butler is back at the Bud and Jackie Sellick Bowl next weekend to host Stetson at 1 p.m.
